PixelMaker keyboard shortcuts

They work in the PixelMaker editor on a computer. On a Mac, use ⌘ instead of Ctrl and Option instead of Alt.

Basics

Ctrl + K
Opens search so you can find and add anything without going through the panels.
Ctrl + Z
Undoes your last change.
Ctrl + Shift + Z or Ctrl + Y
Redoes what you just undid.
Double-click or Enter
Edits the selected element’s text right on the canvas. If the element has no text, Enter selects its first child, so you can step into a container without hunting for it.
Esc
Selects the element’s container to go up one level, or exits what you are doing. While editing text, it finishes and keeps what you typed.
?
Shows the list of shortcuts inside the editor, in case this page is not at hand.

Selecting

Shift or Ctrl + click
Selects several elements at once so you can duplicate, delete or group them together.
Drag on a section’s background
Draws a box and selects everything inside it, without clicking each element.
Ctrl + A
Selects every element at the same level as the selected one, for example all the cards in the same container.

Moving and arranging

Alt + ↑ / ↓
Moves the element up or down one place inside its container, without dragging it.
Ctrl + G / Ctrl + Shift + G
Groups the selected elements into a new container, or ungroups them and leaves the elements loose.
Drag from “Add”
Takes a new element from the “Add” panel and drops it exactly where you want it on the canvas.
Delete or Backspace
Deletes the selected element, or all selected ones. If you make a mistake, Ctrl + Z brings it back.

Copying and styles

Ctrl + C / X / V
Copies or cuts the selected element and pastes it somewhere else.
Ctrl + D
Duplicates the selected element, or all selected ones, in one step.
Ctrl + Alt + C / V
Copies one element’s style and pastes it onto another so they look the same, without changing its content.

View

Alt + 1 / 2 / 3
Switches the view to desktop, tablet or mobile so you can check how your site looks on each screen.
Ctrl + Shift + P
Opens the preview to see the page the way your visitors will.

Sizes and spacing

↑ / ↓ in a size field
In a size field, adds or subtracts 1. With Shift it jumps to the next multiple of 8; with Alt it changes by 0.1.
Drag a padding handle
Changes the element’s inner spacing right on the canvas. With Shift it moves in steps of 8; with Alt it changes both sides at once.
Alt (hold)
Shows the distance between the selected element and the one under the pointer, so you can align precisely.
Grid diamonds and dividers
Drag them to change the space between columns or rows and to share out the width of the columns.

Saving

Ctrl + S
Saves right away. You do not have to: the editor saves on its own while you work.
Ctrl + Alt + S
Saves a restore point in the History panel, so you can go back to that version if you later change your mind.
